Construction of a new oil refinery in Kazakhstan to begin no earlier than 2020

Construction of a new oil refinery in Kazakhstan can start no earlier than 2020. Minister of Oil and Gas Sauat Mynbayev made it public at a plenary sitting of the Majilis on Wednesday.

According to the Minister, till 2015 after the reconstruction the three existing oil refineries in Pavlodar, Shymkent and Atyrau will be able to process 17 million tons of oil and fully meet domestic demand. Presently, domestic consumption of oil is 13.5 million tons.
