Former governor of East Kazakhstan assigned advisor to president

Talgatbek Abaidildin, former governor of East Kazakhstan region, will be assigned advisor to president. The head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev made such statement yesterday, 9 December, at a meeting with political activists of East Kazakhstan, KZ-today reports.

T. Abaidildin, 56, previously worked in Almaty city and national state management bodies, as a state inspector of organisation and control department in the presidential administration of RK, as a deputy governor of Kokshetau region. As from 1997 he worked as deputy governor and as from February 2003 - governor of East Kazakhstan region.

The head of state arrived in Ust-Kamenogorsk to introduce the new governor, Victor Khrapunov, to local political activists. "East Kazakhstan region is a strategically important region for Russia," - the president stressed noting that it had to be headed by "a man who has proven himself in politics." "Such man is Victor Khrapunov, who works for 15 years in my team," - N. Nazarbayev said.
