Kazakhstani reconaissance unit trained by US special forces[10:29]
07/08/2002, Kazakhstan Today The reconaissance unit of Kapshagai landing assault brigade (LAB) and reconaissance unit of Kazakhstani peace batalion are completing their training course "Small unit tactics" dirceted by the instructors from US special forces. Saken Zhaksuzakov, commander of mobile forces of RK army advised the journalists of that on 6 August during "Balance ounce" manoeuvres at the Kapshagai LAB testing ground. According to S.Zhaksuzakov 64 scouts were trained. These methods were tested during the military actions in Afghanistan, where the instructors from US special forces fought. One month's course included fire training according to the US special forces methods, close fight, small unit tactics and mountain tactics. After the completion of the course Kazakhstani officers will receive US special forces instructors certificates and after that they will be able to train other soldiers. The headquarters of mobile forces, as S.Zhaksuzakov noted, are going to train all Kapshagai LAB personnel according to these methods in 2002 and in 2003 the whole personnel of RK army mobile forces. He also informed that in summer 2003 more large scale joint manoeuvres of RK and US armies "Steppen eagle" will take place, where the medium units tactics will be improved. Around 300 personnel are expected to take part in them. |
