ARMENIAN PRESIDENT MET WITH US AMBASSADOR TO YEREVAN

Today, the Armenian President Robert Kocharian received the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Michel Lemmon as of the completion of his diplomatic mission in Yerevan. CAN was informed in the presidential press office that on behalf of the Armenian nation the president has expressed to the US diplomat condolences as of unprecedented tragedy of September 11. The US Ambassador Lemmon handed to president Kocharian congratulation of the US president George Bush on the occasion of Independence Day, which is celebrated in Armenia September 21. Armenia and the US, the message sais, will continue joint activity for the sake of peace, stability and for prosperity of the Armenian state. "Thanks to 1.5 million Armenians living in the US, who enriches our spiritual life, the US has a special connection with Armenia. I am sure that next year Armenia and the US will strengthen and deepen mutual cooperation," the statement by the US president reads.
