ARMENIA WELCOMES RUSSIA'S GROWING INFLUENCE IN THE WORLD

"The visit of the Russian president to Armenia is very important event for Armenia. We have been waiting for this visit for long time and it is remarkable that the visit took place in the year of 10th anniversary of Armenian independence and celebration of 1700 anniversary of adoption of Christianity as state religion of Armenia." The Armenian President Robert Kocharian made such statement today, in Yerevan.

Robert Kocharian underlined that the Armenian-Russian relations are targeted at strategic development. The results are fixed in intergovernmental documents - strategic partnership and ally relations, which are based on century-long history and coincidence of Armenian and Russian interests. Robert Kocharian also underlined that "Armenia welcomes growing role of Russia on international arena, as well as its economic successes, which already influence on Armenia as well. We consider that Russia plays a very important role in stability and security aspects of the Southern Caucasus," the Armenian President said. Russia, according to him, is the key mediator in the Karabakh conflict settlement. "It is impossible to solve this conflict without active participation of Russia, the President Kocharian said.
