Azarenka reaches Olympics quarterfinals

In the round of the last 16 the best Belarusian tennis player defeated Russia's Nadezhda Petrova (No. 23) 7-6, 6-4. The match lasted for an hour and 54 minutes.
Victoria Azarenka made hard work of her first-round win against Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu (No. 79), 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. Then marking her 23rd birthday she beat Spain's Maria Martinez Sanchez 6-2, 6-1. The Belarusian will next face Germany's Angelique Kerber (No. 7) who defeated Venus Williams of the U.S. (No. 72) 7-6, 7-6. |
