President Nazarbayev dissatisfied with National Security Committee

The Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev chaired a session on problems of counteraction to terrorism and extremism on Thursday (July 12), Kazinform has learnt from Kazakh President's press service.

During the session President Nazarbayev noted that spread of terrorism and extremism nowadays was of global character.

"The law-enforcement agencies are responsible for preservation of stability and due course of law in the country," the Kazakh Leader stressed.

Some 100 crimes related to terrorism and extremism happened in Kazakhstan in 2011-2012. Dozens of civilians and law-enforcement officers fell a victim to these crimes.

"As the President of the country I am not satisfied with the work done by the law-enforcement agencies and the National Security Committee, in particular. Those efforts that we are making are not effective enough. The explosion occurred in Karasay district of Almaty region yesterday, people died. Weapon arsenal and explosives were found at the scene according to preliminary data. This situation needs to be analyzed and specific measures are to be taken to prevent the terrorist and extremist activities in the country," President Nazarbayev said.
