Total of 42 wildfires blazing in Russia's Far East

According to reports by forestry services, the situation remains most complex in the constituent republic of Yakutia-Sakha and in the Khabarovsk territory where the fires have engulfed more than 4,800 hectares of forests all in all, Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
Fires have also been registered in the Magadan region and in the Chukotka Peninsula.
Officials at the Forestry Department of the Far-Eastern Federal District have told Itar-Tass forest maintenance services on Thursday eliminated twelve of the fifty-four fires registered across the six constituent regions making up the district.
Fourteen more blazes were localized.
Thursday, fires consumed 2,271 hectares of forest areas. The efforts to put them out engaged 1,283 men, 192 vehicles and 25 aircraft.
Since the beginning of warm months of the year, the Far-Eastern Federal District has evidenced 1,871 fires, including 593 fires on an area of 101 hectares in the Khabarovsk territory. |
