"Today we live in relative peace and stability, and we are all relaxed with such a peaceful life. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers are aimed at preventing and suppressing terrorist activities. The state provides significant support in this. The law enforcement bodies have no more important task than keeping the stability and the rule of law in the country," Nazarbayev said.
The President also said that the achievement of goals and objectives depends on the organization and professionalism of heads of law enforcement agencies. In 2011 - 2012 there was more than a hundred crimes related to terrorism and extremism. Their victims were tens of citizens and law enforcement officials.
"We must recognize that the country's radical extremist elements exert full pressure on the state and society in general. People are outraged by the inability of law enforcement to prevent these crimes. Because of the unprofessionalism police officers are killed. Because of not doing careful work, we therefore can not prevent such crimes. As president and guarantor of the Constitution, I am dissatisfied with the work of law enforcement agencies, especially the work of the National Security Committee. Those efforts, we are taking are not effective enough. Yesterday explosion in Karasai district of Almaty region claimed lives of several people. According to preliminary data, a large arsenal of weapons and explosives was found at the scene. Again, we are too late after the fact. All of this requires us to carefully review and take concrete measures to combat and prevent terrorist and extremist elements," said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Summing up the meeting, the President instructed to review the entire system of monitoring of preventing threats of terrorist and extremist nature, and to take measures to eliminate shortcomings in operational and investigative activities, and improve the coordination mechanism for government agencies in the anti-terrorist activities. |
