Singaporean experience in vocational education development discussed in Astana

Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science held a conference on "International cooperation in the development of technical and vocational education of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the Ministry's press service said.

The conference was attended by Director of Technical and Vocational Education Department of the Ministry of Education and Science K. Boribekov, chairman of "Kasipkor" holding A. Manasova, Chairman of Temasek Foundation (Singapore) Goh Geok Khim, Senior Director for International Development Nanyang Polytechnic Institute (NYP) Tse Fon Fung, and heads of organizations, technical and vocational education institutions of Kazakhstan.

This year within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education and Science and Nanyang Polytechnic Institute 140 teachers underwent training in Singapore. Temasek Foundation financed the accommodation and training of the program participants in Singapore. In May and June 2012, 60 representatives of central and local executive bodies working in the field of education, directors and employees of technical and vocational education organizations were trained as well.

Participants discussed the opportunity of using the experience of Singapore in Kazakhstan, shared experience gained in Singapore describing the new initiatives that will be introduced into the practices of the institution on the basis of the trip.
