Kazakhstan introduces school subjects in English

Kazakhstan is planning gradual introduction of school subjects in English.

Minister of Education and Science Bakytzhan Zhumagulov told participants of the governmental hour at Majilis, Lower Chamber of the Kazakh Parliament.

"We are working on new standards, textbooks and teacher books to make a transition to 12-year education. 521 schools are to be built in the nearest future. The Head of State instructed to introduce trilingual education at schools. But the state language remains a priority," B. Zhumagulov added.

Pupils of 33 schools in Kazakhstan start learning English from the 1st grade. All schools are expected to offer the English language learning from the 1st grade starting from the next study year.
