Kazakhstan, Norway discuss human rights

Gunnar Ekeløve-Slydal, Deputy Secretary General of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee (NHC) and NHC regional representative in Central Asia Ivar Dale paid a visit to the Humans Rights National Center in Astana where they met with Kazakhstan's Human Rights Commissioner Askar Shakirov, ombudsman's press service reports.

In the course of the meeting the sides touched upon the cooperation between the NHC and Human Rights Commissioner's office, in particular within the International Coordination Committee of National Human Rights Organization. The Norwegian side suggested holding a roundtable between the Kazakh and Norwegian human rights organizations in order to exchange experience.

Both sides expressed interest in the implementation of joint projects.
