Kazakh President OKs New Silk Road project

"Kazakhstan needs to revive its historical role and become the largest transit hub in the Central Asian region and bring Europe and Asia closer. The implementation of this project will double the transit cargo traffic through Kazakhstan's territory by 2020," Nursultan Nazarbayev said. It is expected to amount to 50 million tones.
The Head of State also pointed out Kazakhstan had favorable geographic position which was of paramount importance amid globalization. Kazakhstan acts as a connecting link between the biggest markets of China, Europe, Russia, and the CIS member countries. |
