Government considered preparation for spring sowing campaign

Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Asylzhan Mamytbekov informed about the process of preparation for the spring sowing campaign at today's Government session, Kazinform has learned from http://pm.kz/

According to the Minister, in 2012, 21.5 million ha of land are planned to be planted with crops. The area for spring sowing is expected to reach 18.8 mln ha that is 0.2 mln ha or 0.9% less than the last year. 16.2 mln ha of land is to be sown with grain, including 13.5 mln ha - with wheat. The areas sown with wheat will be reduced by 300 thousand ha. Thereat, the grain areas are to be expanded by 55 thousand ha due to expansion of the areas sown with fodder grain.

In 2012, 1657 thousand ha of land is planned to be sown with oil-plants, 164.2 thousand ha - with cotton, 18.4 thousand ha - with white beet, 378.2 thousand ha - with vegetables and potato, 2745.6 thousand ha - with feed crops.

Presently, agricultural farms of the south regions of the country started the spring sowing campaign, in particular, the areal mulching and secondary tillage are underway, etc.

This year, 360 thousand tons of fuel and lubricants are necessary for spring sowing. The Ministry of Agriculture jointly with the Ministry of Oil and Gas have set a fixed price for diesel fuel at the level of 81 tenge per one liter that is 10-15% below the market price. The fuel and lubricants supplies are by 18% more dynamic than last year. The agricultural producers have already received 96 thousand tons of fuel.

"The preparation for the spring sowing campaign goes in accordance with the schedule. The main issue today is to ensure timely spring sowing taking into consideration weather conditions and soil moisture conditions," A.Mamytbekov resumed.
