The New University in Astana must become a center of the innovative and intellectual cluster promoting transfer and development of new technologies, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said in his annual address to the people of Kazakhstan, speaking at the joint session of the Parliament.

"The Government must strengthen Kazakhstan's innovation system. It is important to increase budget expenditures for prospective scientific research through the provision of innovative grants," Nursultan Nazarbayev noted.

The President emphasized that the new law "On Science" lays the foundation for a systematic state support for domestic science. According to him, establishing high-tech enterprises in Astana, it will be possible to extend this experience to other scientific and educational centers in Kazakhstan.
