Kazakhstan to deal with trans-border river problems through OIC dialog platform

The II meeting of the OIC Water Strategy Development Consultative Group has convened today in Astana.

"Our goal is to develop a concept for water resources utilization prospects with the OIC member countries," Kazakh Agriculture Vice Minister Marat Tolibayev said opening the sitting. Drinking water is one the key resources of any state of the world and presently its value grows day by day. Many scientists pose the question of drinking water supply on a par with energy resources endowment."

"The meeting of the OIC Water Strategy Development Consultative Group is of crucial meaning for Kazakhstan for the country takes 60% of water from trans-border rivers and it has some unsolved issues yet. To that end it is vital for us to use the OIC dialogue platform for further talks with our neighbors, OIC members countries - Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan."
