Kazakhstan hosts event on Azerbaijani national holiday

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Kazakhstan organized an official banquet in Astana dedicated to May 28 - the Republic Day, the embassy said.

Deputy Minister of Oil and Gas Lyazzat Kiinov attended the event from the Kazakh side.

The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan were performed at the beginning of the event.

The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was the first democratic Muslim state, established 93 years ago in the East, ambassador Zakir Hashimov said. He spoke about the invaluable merits of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the restoration and consolidation of independence, the development of Azerbaijan, as well as strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan . The relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have deep roots, he said. He stressed the merits of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to develop and strengthen ties between the two peoples. He added that Azerbaijan is of great importance for Kazakhstan. Both countries successfully participate in major energy projects.
