IV World Kurultai of Kazakhs kicks off in Astana

World Kurultai of Kazakh people that is held once in five years is a landmark event in the political life of our country.

This year the meeting is unusual since more than 60 percent of the delegates are young people under 30 years. The event gathers the Kazakhs from 35 CIS and non-CIS countries as well as all regions of Kazakhstan, the cities of Almaty and Astana. In general 660 delegates arrived to participate in the Kurultai.

Today the most prominent representatives of the Kazakh Diaspora and intelligentsia will attend the reception organized on behalf of the Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev. In the afternoon the participants will attend an opera performance at the Astana Congress Hall.

On May 26 they will gather for roundtables in the ministries.

On Friday, May 27, youth football tournaments between the teams of Kazakhstan, Turkey, China, Mongolia, Uzbekistan and Russia will be held in Astana. An exhibition of applied art of the Kazakhs of China, Mongolia and other countries will be opened at the Presidential Cultural Center. A poetry competition, a concert and a public dance party will be held on the same day.
