Head of the EU Delegation in Kazakhstan, Ambassador Norbert Jousten has made such statement at a roundtable meeting in Astana on Legal mechanisms of migration regulation - international standards and national legislation.
"We realize the complexity migration poses to people and we are actively involved in its regulation at all levels", N. Jousten said.
He noted that labor migration is one of the powerful factors of economic development. It provides new opportunities for the cooperation between the countries and these ties can be strengthened more if an appropriate environment for the migrants is created. Regulation of migration should be balanced - ensuring security for the host country and protecting the migrants' rights, who are more vulnerable to all types of exploitation.
The meeting participants focused also on the draft Law of Kazakhstan "On migration of population" which is under the consideration of the Majilis now. |
