Spearhead group on holding referendum adopted Address to President

Senate Deputy Anatoly Bashmakov read the Address of the initiative group on holding referendum to President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at the briefing on Wednesday. The Address conveys a request to the Head of the State to consent for holding the referendum.

"Our initiative drew a huge public response and over 5 mln Kazakhstanis or 50% of voters supported the holding of the referendum. This demonstrates nationwide support of the policy you conduct. According to the Constitution of Kazakhstan, people are the only source of power. The people regard you as a Leader able to lead the country to the top developed world states with high living standards in the next decade. Expression of the will of voters is a real estimation of your activity aimed at strengthening the independence, country's development, citizen's welfare improvement", the Address writes.

The initiative group notes that the will of the people is sacred for the President and he never lets anybody ignore it. "The people have supported you all these years of establishment of our state, unconditionally following you. Today we are sure you will support the initiative of your people", the Address reads.
