More than 6, 500 still wait for delayed flights at airports

More than 6,500 people remained stranded at Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports in Moscow over the past 24 hours, a representative of law enforcement bodies. Kazinform refers to ITAR-TASS.

The situation at Moscow airport terminals remains difficult, the source said. Fifty-two flights for which 5,280 people were booked, including 158 children, were delayed at Sheremetyevo, and more than 1,200 passengers, including 64 children, have been staying at Domodedovo which delayed eleven flights.

Around 850 policemen ensure security and public order at the airports. No incidents of violation of public order have been reported so far, the same source said.

The Moscow weather service said that the Moscow region would again be in the epicenter of a rather cold weather and heavy blizzards, which will add more ice on roads. A strong wind from the southwest might gain a force of 18 meters per second in some areas. A heavy blizzard accompanied by a strong wind continues in Moscow since early morning on Wednesday.
