The event was held with participation of Ministry for Communication and Information of the RK, Office of the Prime Minister of the RK and mass media on the eve of the Day of Transport and Communication Servicemen and was dedicated to this professional holiday.
LTE is the fourth generation mobile communication technology evolved from 3G. The main difference and advantage of LTE over other existing mobile communication technologies is its greater traffic capability with transmission speed of almost 100 Mb/s. Potentially bit rates may reach 400 Mb/s.
4G bit and information transmission rates allow the use of a wide range of wireless communication services and Internet-applications that require increased capacity such as fast exchange of large files, video surveillance, teleconferences and television broadcasting. Given the instantaneous application response of 4G technology the increased level of interactivity will in turn allow for a wider use of various remote control devices at an improved response rate.
"At present we observe a vigorous growth of mobile traffic. New communication technologies need to be introduced in order to satisfy growing needs of subscribers for mobile data communication, and meet their expectations of high speed. LTE is rightfully considered one of the most advanced technologies that our country requires for innovative development", - stated Aida Dossayeva, Corporate Communications Director, GSM Kazakhstan/Kcell.
During the event LTE technology capacities were demonstrated to participants. Company experts demonstrated data upload, speed measurement, displayed high resolution digital video, conducted a video conference, and demonstrated video camera connection from Astana to Almaty transmitting on a "real time" basis. In another example of 4G technology instantaneous response, online gaming and 3D online Stockholm (Sweden) city journey was demonstrated using Google Street View. Technology similar to that installed in Astana for demonstration purposes has been a commercial success operating since last year in many cities of Finland, Sweden and Norway.
Aida Dossayeva, Corporate Communications Director, GSM Kazakhstan/Kcell, says: "We are proud that our parent company TeliaSonera became the first communication operator in the world who commercially launched LTE in Stockholm (Sweden) and Oslo (Norway) at the end of 2009. We hope that the 4G communication services will be provided in Kazakhstan in the near future. We are fully prepared for the deployment of networks of both 3G and 4G, GSM Kazakhstan/Kcell have all the required resources". |
