May 13. Kazakhstan Today - The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan does not recognize legitimacy of the provisional government and resignation of the president Kurmanbek Bakiev. The new Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament, leader of the Party of Communists of the Republic, Ishak Masaliev, informed at the press conference, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting. "The provisional government cannot be legitimate as, according to the Constitution, only the country's parliament can recognize resignation of the president. In this case, the president's powers, according to the Basic Law, pass to the Speaker of the Parliament. "There is no legitimate authority in the country now," I. Masaliev said. "We consider that the provisional government's decree about dissolution of the Parliament has no legal basis," the Parliament Speaker said. Masaliev said that it is planned to call the Parliament for the extraordinary session to accept the address to the ousted president with the request to direct the resignation application to zhogorku kenesh (the supreme body - parliament) of the country.
