Group of scientists of Kazakhstan opposes re-organization of Biological Research and Biotechnology Centers

Almaty. February 16. Kazakhstan Today - The group of scientists-biologists opposes the project of reorganization of two large biological centers of Kazakhstan prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science, the agency reports citing the letter of the chairman of trade union of workers of science, Marat Moldabekov. The signed letter by 70 scientists is on the blog of the Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, Zhanseit Tuymebayev.

In his letter, M. Moldabekov informed of preparation by the Ministry of Education and Science of the next project of reorganization of the large biological centers of Kazakhstan. "In the first version of the project it was the question of liquidation of the republican state enterprise - the Center of Biological Researches and transformation of its branches to the republican state enterprise. According to the second - the Center of Biological Researches will be attached to the National Centre of Biotechnology of Kazakhstan and the latter will be renamed to the republican state enterprise Biotechnology Institute, which will be located in Stepnogorsk of the Akmola area. That is the purpose of this decree in both cases is liquidation of the centers."

The Center of Biological Researches was created by the government's decree of Kazakhstan of March 5, 2004. The purpose of creation of the centre was concentration of scientific and technical potential on priority directions of basic researches and strengthening of the contribution of fundamental science in solution of problems of social and economic development of the country.
