US Jewish communities thank Central Asia

"US Jewish organisations express their deep gratitude to Nursultan Nazarbaev, president of RoK and heads of other Central Asian countries for the organisation of the conference and of the "Forum of peace and accord", Mortimer Zuckerman, chairman of Jewish organisations of USA said at the International conference of peace and accord today, on 13 February in Almaty.

In his speech M.Zuckerman stressed that for many people living in Western countries the wave of terrorism and extremism, sweeping all over the world lately, is associated by the religious war, led by Islam. However "the society knows the humane character of this great world religion" and that "such religion would never support or provoke terrorism", - he said.

It's not a clash between civilisations that takes place in the world, M.Zuckerman noted, but a clash within the civilisation. "And the point is not whether there will or will not be terrorism, but whether there will or will not be a civilised response to terrorism". "We perceive our participation in this conference that aims at such civilised response to terrorism and an establishment of a platform for the unification of religions and various world views as a special honour", - M.Zuckerman said.
