Schlumberger plans to audit hydrocarbon resources in Uzbekistan

The French auditor company Schlumberger will audit crude hydrocarbon reserves at an oil & gas condensate field Kokdumalak in Kashkadarya province, Uzbekistan. KZ-today correspondent has been advised in the press service of "Uzbekneftegas" National Holding Company.

The press service specified that the top management of "Uzbekneftegas" NHC plans to sign a contract with Schlumberger by the end of August. The French company must present results of the auditing in the beginning of 2005.

Kokdumalak field was discovered in 1986 and it is under development since 1998. Around 50% of all oil reserves produced in the republic are extracted there.

"Uzbekneftegas" NHC is going to implement a gas condensate production project at Kokdumalak field for an approximate cost of $60 million. The project implementation will allow to utilise the associated gas and to eliminate discharges of its popping by-products in the atmosphere and to increase the gas condensate production up to 100 thousand tons per annum.

In 2003 the production of oil & gas condensate in Uzbekistan fell by 0.9% reaching 7.134 million tons, the gas production fell by 0.3% to 57.481 billion cubic metres.
