Special commission investigates murder of Kazakh citizen on Uzbek border

A special bilateral commission consisting of representatives from prosecuting bodies, national security committee (KNB), frontier guards, law enforcement authorities, diplomatic representations works on Kazakh-Uzbek border, KZ-today has been advised by an informed source in KNB.

He confirmed information that a 27-year old citizen of Kazakhstan was shot on the border between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan by Uzbek frontier guards. According to the source, a car with 4 passengers was heading towards the border through an earlier existing, but at that moment abolished checkpoint. When the car attempted to cross the border it was stopped by Uzbek frontier guards, who forbade it to pass and ordered it to turn around. Then they started to shoot injuring the driver. Fellow travellers brought him to the district Saryagash hospital.

Another source in the frontier troops said that the killed citizen of South Kazakhstan oblast was a self-employed taxi driver. He was hired to drive from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan three citizens of that republic: two girls, one man and their luggage. According to preliminary version, there was a conflict between the frontier guards and the passengers, during which the Uzbek soldiers shot the taxi driver in the leg. On his way to the hospital the young man died.
