Eurozone unemployment up to 8.7% in June 2005

According to Eurostat, Euro-zone and EU-25 unemployment rate made 8.7% and 8.8% in June 2005, respectively, reports the Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan.

Among the member states Poland registered the maximum unemployment rate – 17.6%, the lowest rate was registered in Ireland – 4.3%. The unemployment rate in Germany, France and Spain made 9.5-9.8%. In Portugal, Belgium and Finland – 7.1-8.2%, Denmark and Netherlands - 4.8%, Luxembourg and Austria– 5.1-5.4%.

In majority of the countries the female rate is rather higher that unemployment rates for males.

In June 2005, the unemployment rate for under 25-s reached 17.9% (in June 2004 – 17.8%), EU-25 – 18.4% (18.5%). The maximum rate for under 25-s was registered in Poland – 35.6%, the lowest rate in Denmark – 7%. In Belgium, Luxembourg Finland, Spainand France registered 19.4-22.5%; in Portugal, Germany, Hungary –14.9-16.1%, Ireland, Netherlands and Austria– 8% -9.9%.

Eurozone unemployment rate for 25-74 in Euro-zone and made 7.5% and in EU-25 – 7.4% (in June 2004 - 7.7%). The maximum rate was registered in Poland (15.2%), the lowest rate in Ireland (3.5%).

Kazakhstan registered 7.7% of unemployment rate in June 2005.
