55-57 million tons of oil to be extracted in RK this year

In 2003 oil producing companies of Kazakhstan produced around 52 million tons of oil and 14 billion cubic metres of gas. Lyazzat Kyinov, vice minister of energy and mineral resources, said today, on April 29, during the I international forum "Caspian: politics, economics, business", KZ-today correspondent reports.

According to his information, 55-57 million tons of oil and 16 billion cubic metres of gas are planned to be produced in Kazakhstan in 2004. Moreover, "the main growth is expected at the expense of such fields as Tengiz, Karachaganak, Kumkol," - L. Kyinov explained.

The surveyed reserves of raw hydrocarbons in Kazakhstan are the following: oil - 4 billion tons, gas - 3 trillion cubic metres, reserves of the Kazakhstani sector of Caspian Sea equal 15 billion tons of equivalent fuel. It is expected that the total volume of raw hydrocarbons production can reach 170-180 million tons by 2015.
