President sent law on elections to the Constitutional Council

The president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has sent a law "On elections" passed by the parliament to the Constitutional Council for a review on the subject of its compliance with the Constitution within a month term, KZ-today has been advised in the presidential administration press service.

Earlier it was reported that the new legislation on elections had been discussed for more than one year. As a result the government version of the draft law was accepted as a basis. The parliament started a review of that document on 26 December, 2003, but the deputies could not surpass their disagreements and created a special conciliatory commission. The law "On changes and amendments in the Constitutional Law "On elections in RK" was passed on 15 March, 2004.
