New NB head on oscillations in currency rates

The National Bank will influence the currency market only in the case that there is a danger of abrupt oscillations in the rate. Anvar Saidenov, whose candidacy was presented by the president of RK for assignment to the position of chairman of the National Bank, has made this statement today, on 26 January, speaking at a joint session of the parliament chambers, KZ-today correspondent reports.

А. Saidenov has expressed an opinion that "the change of rate that has taken place in the beginning of this year and bolstering of the KZT is no such an abrupt oscillation, although this tendency is quite unilateral". А. Saidenov has said that "during these 2.5 weeks the National Bank has been carrying purchases of the USD on the currency exchange". "We are going to continue adhering to this policy", - А. Saidenov assured.

At the same time, A. Saidenov has noted that "if we talk about the oscillations of USD with respect to the Euro and other currencies, including indirectly the KZT, I believe, it is defined by a whole number of factors of both political and economic character". А. Saidenov assured the deputies that "the National Bank will follow tendencies (on the currency market) and react correspondingly".
