"I am sure that the electronic voting system in Kazakhstan will justify itself". Elizabeth Jones, US assistant secretary for European and Eurasian affairs, has expressed hit opinion at a press conference in Almaty on July 16, during her visit to Central Asian countries.

E. Jones observed that one of the main issues, which she discusses in Kazakhstan with the state authorities, is the forthcoming elections to parliament.

In particular, she met a deputy foreign minister Alexei Volkov, a deputy head of presidential administration Marat Tazhin, and the chairperson of the CEC of RK Zaghipa Baliyeva. "The USA, the European Union, and the OSCE have done a lot to help Kazakhstan carry out honest parliamentary elections, and it is very important for the United States that they are honest," - she said.

Э E. Jones observed that in both Kazakhstan and the United States the same debates were going on about an efficiency of the electronic voting system. The main problem in introducing this system, she said, is an uncertainty of some voters that their votes will be registered correctly.

The situation in Iraq and Afghanistan, the position of Kazakhstani contingent, "certain UN requirements concerning Iraq" were also discussed during the meetings with A. Volkov and M. Tazhin, E. Jones said.
