Participant of last presidential race applies for registration as candidate

Zhaksybai Bazilbayev, participant of the last presidential race, has submitted an application for the registration in the Central Election Commission today, September 21, KZ-today correspondent reports from Astana.

"I have not had any problems with the registration. I don't have financial problems either. Now I only have to wait for the examination for knowledge of the state language," - he told journalists.

Earlier the documents for the registration have been submitted by Nursultan Nazarbayev, current president of Kazakhstan, Zharmakhan Tuyakbai, leader of "For a Just Kazakhstan" opposition bloc, senate deputy Walikhan Kaisarov, Almaty businessmen Salim Oten, Amantai-kaji Assylbek, famous public figure, Mekemtas Tleulessov, lawyer from Almaty region, Yerassyl Abylkassymov, deputy of mazhilis (parliament's lower house,) Meiramkul Kozhagulova, unemployed Aktobe resident, and Baltabai Rakhimzhanov, president of the National Farmers Federation of Kazakhstan "KazAgro." Maya Karamayeva, 43, resident of Talgar, Almaty region, is off the presidential race because she has not passed the examination for knowledge of state language, today, September 21.

The next presidential election in Kazakhstan is due on December 4, 2005. As per the plan of basic election events, the nomination of candidates ends two months before the election date, that is on October 3.
