The data were given to KZ-today by Association of sociologists and political scientists, that carried out the survey among inhabitants of republic. 13,9% of respondents were not definite with their position concerning this question and only 2,6% support the USA intentions. The greatest number of opponents to the war with Iraq is in Uralsk (97,4%) and Karaganda (92,2%). On the question " What is the basis for George Bush's campaign against Iraq?" every second interrogated has answered that "the oil is involved in the conflict ". Evey fourth person sees Bush's attempt to self-assert as the leader of world power. Approximately the fifth part of respondents believes, that in a basis of the campaign there is the aspiration to establish pro-American dictatorship in Iraq. Only less than 5% of Kazakhstani citizens consider that the anti Iraq campaign is a part of struggle against the international terrorism. During interrogation it was also indicated that more than one thirds of Kazakhstani people are seriously concerned in connection with direct threat to Kazakhstan's safety in case the airports will be given for the USA aircraft. " It can make our country the direct participant of the military conflict ", respondents consider. About every ninth interrogated believes, that nothing threatens Kazakhstan's safety. Interrogation was carried out among inhabitants of Almaty, Astana, Аtyrau, Karaganda, Кokshetau, Kyzylorda, Semipalatinsk, Тaraz, Uralsk and Ust Kamenogorsk. |
