Prices for consumer goods and services in Europe decreased by 0.2%

Prices for consumer goods and services in July 2002 in the countries of European area decreased by 0.2% against the preceding month, increasing by 1.9% against the same month of the previous year, KZ-today correspondent was advised in Eurostat.

Also, the Eurostat informed that the prices for consumer goods and services in July against this June in the countries of European Union and European economic space decreased by 0.2%, against the corresponding month of 2001 - increased by 1.8%.

The biggest decrease of prices and rates in July 2002 has been registered in Greece - 2%. In Sweden, Ireland, Luxemburg, Spain and Belgium the prices fell by 0.5-1%, in Italy, Austria, Norway, France, Netherlands, Great Britain, Finland and Denmark - by 0.1-0.4%, while in the rest of countries - they increased by 0.2-0.3%.

The prices of industrial producers in July against this June in Euro-zone and EU-15 remained the same, against last July - fell by 0.6%.

Among the European countries, in July, against June, the prices in Portugal fell - by 1.2%. In Great Britain, Germany and Ireland they fell by 0.1-0.4%, and in Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Luxemburg, Italy and Netherlands, on the contrary, they grew by 0.1-0.5%, while in Spain they remain at the same level.
