Russia raised export duty on oil up to $33.9

According to the government information department of the Russian Federation from 1 February 2004 the export duty on oil and its products, extracted from bituminous rock is $33.9 per ton, KZ-today correspondent informs.

The rate was fixed according to oil prices monitoring results for November-December 2003. The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kasyanov signed a decree "About an establishment of custom export duties rate for oil and its products, extracted from bituminous rock and petroleum products exported from Russia to countries which are not signatories of the Agreements on Customs Union".

Under the decree the export duty rate on liquid fuel, gasoline, medium distillates, light distillates and petroleum products is $30.5 per ton.

The new rates will be effective up to 31 March 2004.

From 1 December 2003 to 31 January 2004 the export duty on oil made $31.2 per ton.
