II Congress of World Religions to be held in 2006

The preparation for the second Congress of World Religions, which will take place in Astana in 2006, has started. "Today we have the support of Vatican, the Russian Orthodox Church, Dalai Lama, Islamic world leaders," the chairman of the senate of the parliament Nurtai Abykayev declared about that today at a meeting with ambassadors of European countries, KZ-today correspondent informs.

According to Nurtai Abykayev, he is a head of the secretariat, which was established following the results of the first Congress of World Religions. One representative from seventeenth confessions enter into the secretariat, he said.

The task of the first Congress was to "gather the representatives from all countries, including the belligerents," speaker of the senate noted. "The idea of the second Congress is to gather not only the leaders of the world religious but also the leaders of the states," he stressed.
