Prime-Minister of the RK discussed implementation of the project of exploration of the Northern Caspian Sea shelf with representatives of ENI company

Department of Government Information of the RK informed that on November 6, 2001 Prime Minister of the RK K.Tokaev met with the representatives of ENI company.

The sides discussed on going activity on implementation of the agreement on the share of production in the Northern Caspian Sea. As is known, since January 2001 Agip company, which is a part of ENI, is a sole operator of this major project.

As Deputy Chairman of the steering committee of the Northern Caspian project Dominique Spad informed, the pace of activity is matching the schedule. This allows to plan production of first oil at Kashagan field by end of 2005.

Prime Minister has positively estimated experience of cooperation with ENI company in implementing the number of wide scale projects in the RK. "As for Northern Caspian project, criteria on evaluation of the company's activity will be determined, first of all, by the rate of fulfillment of five conditions put to Agip KCO (former name is OKIOC) by the President of the RK. Also, social aspects of the project are very important. This is why it is necessary to use all resources related to involvement of Kazakhstani specialists in the current activity and fulfill social and infrastructure programs" - said Prime-Minister.

Agip KCO operates in the Northern part of the Caspian Sea on behalf of consortium that consists of nine international companies of Eni, BG Group, BP, ExxonMobil, Inpex, Phillips, Petroleum, Shell, Statoil and TotalFinaElf.
