Broad peak conquered by Kazakhstani climbers

On Wednesday, 16 July, at 10 AM of Almaty time, three Kazakhstani climbers – Maksut Zhumayev, Vassiliy Pivtsov and Dmitriy Chumakov climbed to one of the highest mountain peaks in the world – Broad peak (8047 m) in Qaracorum. The second group of Kazakhstani team consisting of Sergey Lavrov, Alexei Raspopov, Vassiliy Litvinov and Sergey Bogomolov climbed to the Borad peak top on 17 July. Another crew member – famous Kazakhstani climber Denis Urubko had to accompany a French climber down, whose life was in danger, KZ-today has been advised by the ascent organisers.

As it has been reported earlier, Kazakhstani climbers pursue an unprecedented task – to conquer during one expedition and without oxygen three highest world peaks - K-2, Broad peak in Qaracorum and Nangha-Parbhat in Himalayas. On 17 June they conquered the eight thousand high Nangha-Parbhat and now they have to conquer Chogori or K-2 (8611 m).

This expedition is carried out as per the programme “14 highest world tops”. The programme of ascent to the highest world peaks is dated for the 15th anniversary of independence of Kazakhstan, today the Kazakhstani team has conquered ten of them.
