A new sightseeing tour to places related with Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky has been opened in Semipalatinsk, KZ-today correspondent reports.

Tatiana Avtushko, director of Semipalatinsk literary memorial museum named after Dostoyevsky, says that the opening of the new excursion route is dated for the 150th anniversary of the Dostoyevsky's arrival in Semipalatinsk. The route parts from Yamyshevskie gates through which Dostoyevsky entered the city. This historical monument is still protected by the state. Then the excursion programme includes the garrison hospital, the barrack izba, in which Dostoyevsky served, the house of merchant Stepanov, in which the writer's friend baron Wrangel lived, and other places.

Natalia Ashimbayeva, head of the St. Petersburg museum of F.M. Dostoyevsky who has arrived in Semipalatinsk on invitation from her colleagues, has become the first tour sightseer. She has already visited nearly all places in which Dostoyevsky lived. These include Omsk, Tobolsk, Staraya Russa, Moscow, Florence and Baden-Baden. "The Semipalatinsk period of Dostoyevsky's life has been studied insufficiently and this opportunity to visit Semipalatinsk will help me to restore this gap," - she has said.
