General prosecutor strengthens control over observation of human rights

Rashid Tusupbekov, general prosecutor of RK, at a workshop meeting of regional prosecutors in Astana yesterday, February 17, said that the control over observation of laws related with rights of socially vulnerable strata of the population had to be strengthened, a report circulated by the general prosecutor's office of RK says.

R. Tusupbekov charged them with the task of revealing mass violations of law. In particular, non-payments of salaries, an increase of prices for communal services, procrastination in the resolution of urgent problems of different groups of the population by local management bodies.

The general prosecutor also observed that it was necessary "to raise demands to the work of criminal prosecution bodies. It is important to bolster measures against the crime, especially against the organised crime," - he explained. Besides, R. Tusupbekov demanded "to improve the quality of control over criminal cases related with the drug crimes and to provide real protection of constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens in the criminal process."
