The general prosecutor's office of Kyrgyzstan has changed preventive punishment for the former Kyrgyz prime minister Nikolai Tanayev from an arrest to a written undertaking not to stay within the limits of the city, KZ-today correspondent reports with reference to "Azattyk" radio.

Nikolai Tanayev, former Kyrgyz prime minister, arrived in Bishkek Sunday. On Monday he was interrogated by employees of the general prosecutor's office of Kyrgyzstan. Azimbek Beknazarov, general prosecutor of Kyrgyzstan, says that the preventive measure was changed because he came to the general prosecutor's office of Kyrgyzstan on his own free will and expressed a wish to co-operate with the authorities.

According to the general prosecutor's office of Kyrgyzstan, several parliamentarians avouched for the former Kyrgyz prime minister.

In the beginning of June, 2005, the general prosecutor's office of Kyrgyzstan sanctioned an arrest of the former Kyrgyz prime minister. The general prosecutor's office of Kyrgyzstan filed 3 cases against N. Tanayev as per articles on authority abuses and illegal spending of budget funds.
