The issues of Kazakhstan's participation in the Main Export Pipeline (MEP) project Baku-Tbilisi-Cheyhan will be discussed in Baku in late November, KZ-today correspondent has learned from an official web-site of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan.

According to Natik Aliev, head of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, the initiative for these negotiations comes from Kazakhstani side.

With reference to a possibility of construction of underwater pipeline Aktau-Baku, N.Aliev said that "such pipe will be profitable only in the case that it has spare 8-10 million tons of oil per annum. Otherwise a construction of pipeline through Caspian Sea would be unprofitable".

"Besides, even in the case of decision to construct such pipeline, it will be necessary to resolve oil blending problem and organise oil quality bank. First of all, Azerbaijan needs it, because our oil is better in quality than Kazakhstani oil", - N.Aliev stressed.
