The main argument at the informal summit of the leaders of Central Asian economic union and Russia was "economic, political and other cooperation of Central Asian countries with Russia and security in our region", N.Nazarbaev, president of Kazakhstan, said at a press conference in Aktau on 6 July.

In his view, the situation in the region is complicated by the Middle East problems, relations between India and Pakistan, and Afghanistan vicinity.

According to Kazakhstani leader, "this year an unprecedented harvest of poppies is expected in Afghanistan". In relation with this N.Nazarbaev expressed his concern about a possible renewal of drug traffic transit through the territory of Central Asian countries.

President of RK considers that the situation in Afghanistan still represents "a problem for the region". According to his information there are around 80 thousand armed Talebahnis in Afghanistan. He believes that all states must participate in the recuperation of Afghanistani economics.

As N.Nazarbaev said, Kazakhstani troops will take part in Russia's military manoeuvres, which will take place at the Caspian Sea soon.

Responding the journalists' questions concerning the recently announced oil reserves at Kashagan field, N.Nazarbev said that it was "a good fact". "Around 1 billion tons were announced, but those are not final volumes", head of state said.

From the point of view investment the announcement of big oil reserves is very important, the president emphasised.
