According to the USA Geological Service, the earthquake's epicenter was in 60 kilometers to the southwest from the country's capital Port-au-Prince at the depth of 10 kilometers.
Haiti was struck by a series of 7-magnitude earthquakes under the Richter scale on January 13, 2010. The earthquake have destroyed many buildings in Port-au-Prince. 50 thousand people died as a result of the earthquake. The local authorities do not exclude that death toll can reach 200 thousand people.
