January 14. Kazakhstan Today - Leukaemia patients infected with hepatitis B and C will be treated free of charge in 2010. The Minister of Health of Kazakhstan, Zhaksylyk Doskaliev, said in an interview to the newspaper Vremya, the agency reports.
"First, Kazakhstan will carry out marrow transplantations for leukaemia patients and a hospital on the basis of the Scientific Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology will be opened to treat leukaemia patients infected with hepatitis C - not less than 60 beds, and thirdly, medicine purchase will be centralized - leukaemia patients infected with hepatitus C will be receiving expensive treatment free of charge," Z. Doskaliev informed.
The Minister has assured that all blood centers in Kazakhstan will be equipped with laboratories for chain reaction (PTSR), which will allow to quickly and precisely define an infectious disease.
