UN Secretary General calls upon political parties of Asia to make efforts towards society democratization

Kazakhstan Today - The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, has called upon the political parties of Asia to make active efforts towards democratization of their societies and observance of the rights of citizens in the video addressed to the participants of the Fifth General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), opened today in Astana, the agency reports.
"I urge you to make big efforts to meet the needs of the citizens, to hear their voices and to provide respect of their democratic rights," Ban Ki-moon said. The UN Secretary General underlined that Asia, being the native land of four billions people, is "the largest player in the international scene". "The Asian political parties can serve as the engine of democratic progress," the UN Secretary General considers.
