Turkey shall allocate $24.4 mln to develop Yassawi University in Turkestan, Southern-Kazakhstani oblast. The decision was adopted by plenipotentiary council of IKTU in Ankara. RK minister of education Shamsha Berkimbayev, on a working visit to Turkey within 24-26 April, took part in the meeting, RK embassy in Turkey told Kz-today. Student quotas were increased up to 2,800 at under-graduate, and to 270 for post-graduate programs. A new development is that 2,300 students shall study via Internet. The Turkish party shall finance education for 1,000 students. Berkimbayeva met with Turkish minister of national education M.Bostanjioglu.

RK minister called the joint RK-Turkish universities and colleges "a golden bridge between Kazakhstan and Turkey".

Ministers agreed to hold a session of the bilateral committee for collaboration in education. Berkimbayeva invited her Turkish counterpart to visit RK.
