Kanat Saudabayev, ambassador of Kazakhstan in the USA, has stated this during a meeting with heads of Arizona official authorities and representatives of the state business circles, KZ-today correspondent has been advised in the embassy of RK in the USA. Arizona is a "pioneer" among American states in the establishment of direct contacts with Kazakhstan through the "people diplomacy" line. Already in 1989 twin city relations were established between Tucson, one of the biggest state towns, and Almaty. Today this co-operation has become much wider. On an initiative of the twin cities an "Arizona-Kazakhstan Partnership Fund" has been established, realising wide scale partnership in socioeconomic, humanitarian, and political areas of the whole state with RK. Arizona is famous for its well developed agriculture and highly technological production. Representative offices and ventures of such world famous corporations as "Motorola", "IBM", "Honeywell", "Boeing", "Intel", as well as a number of advanced scientific research centres and biggest Universities of the USA are located here. For further development of business co-operation between Kazakhstan and Arizona the embassy of RK in the USA together with Tucson chamber of commerce and Arizona department of commerce have organised a series of "round tables" with the state businessmen. The ambassador of Kazakhstan has acquainted Arizona business circles with the condition and prospects of socioeconomic development of the republic, the investment climate, and main items of the industrial-innovative strategy of RK. Arizona businessmen perceived opening opportunities for co-operation in biotechnologies, telecommunications, agriculture, processing industry, and services with big interest. Getting acquainted with the industrial-innovative strategy of the republic, B. Wright, director of one of the best US science and technology parks by the University of Arizona, has expressed a readiness to render assistance in further development of research parks on the basis of existing scientific research centres. The ambassador of Kazkahstan has also met heads of the state and Tucson, the mayor of Phoenix, Arizona capital, Ph. Gordon. The American interlocutors have stressed an importance of direct communication with colleagues from Kazakhstan, especially noting that "the people diplomacy allows to know each other much better and establish close relations between the two countries". During the visit of the ambassador to the National Guard headquarters its commander general D. Rotachak has highly estimated the condition and prospects of co-operation with the Ministry of Defence and the Agency for Emergency Response of RK. Arizona National Guard assists Kazakhstani army in training sergeants and equipping the national rescue service with modern technique for a long time. The parties have agreed that it is necessary to bolster this co-operation as an important component of interstate co-operation in fighting terrorism. |
