Deputy foreign minister of Iran arrives to Baku

Mohsen Aminzadeh, deputy foreign minister of Iran, is currently in Baku with a two day visit. KZ-today correspondent reports from Baku that a meeting of M. Aminzadeh with Vilayat Guliyev, foreign minister of Azerbaijan, and Farhad Aliyev, minister of economic development of AR, took place on 15 January.

The foreign minister of Azerbaijan advised journalists after the meeting that the visit of deputy foreign minister of Iran to Baku was related with a discussion on issues of bilateral relations for the forthcoming year. According to V. Guliyev, during the conversation a general exchange of opinions on bilateral relations, as well as on the legal status of the Caspian took place.

In his turn the deputy foreign minister Khalaf Khalafov said that current issues of regional and international life were discussed during the conversation between V. Guliyev and the Iranian diplomat. "Both parties expressed an opinion that a will for continuing negotiations on the status of the Caspian was needed and that the working group had to continue its activities. I believe that in the nearest future a high ranking delegation of Iran will visit Azerbaijan and we will continue the dialogue. The terms of the visit are yet unknown", - Kh. Khalafov stressed.

Besides, issues related with visits of Mohammed Khatami, president of Iran, to Azerbaijan and pf Ilham Aliyev, president of Azerbaijan, to Iran in 2004 were also discussed.

A meeting of M. Aminzadeh with Arthur Rassizadeh, prime minister of Azerbaijan, and Ilham Aliyev, president of Azerbaijan, is expected today, on 16 January.
